Position Title: Volunteer

Department: Animal Assisted Therapy

Position summary

Volunteers serve to provide a good public relations image for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - McKinney by greeting, assisting and aiding patients, families and visitors. Volunteers also serve by helping to assist departmental functions when and where needed allowing the bedside leaders to provide continued high quality healthcare to the community.

 

VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT TO ENTER ISOLATION ROOMS

 

Roles/Functions

  • Greet patients/families and assist by answering non-clinical questions
  • Introduce Animal Assisted Therapy program, animals, and owner to patients/families/guests/staff as needed
  • Give directions and/or escort patients/families to other areas of the hospital
  • Escort animal assisted therapy animal and handler through hospital to visit staff and patients
  • Provide hand sanitizer to patients, families, guests, and staff prior to and after touching the animal
  • Provide timely notice (if able) if not able to escort
