The Baylor Scott & White Cardiovascular Institute, located at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple, offers all aspects of heart and cardiovascular care in one location. Our team of cardiologists, surgeons, interventio​nal radiologist and other healthcare professionals work together to provide advanced care for heart and vascular conditions.

As part of our dedication, we have achieved the highest level in Chest Pain Center from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. The accreditation recognizes the hospital's expertise in providing quality care to patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack. The national standard of care for heart attack patients is a door-to-balloon time of 90 minutes. This refers to the time a patient arrives at the emergency department to intervention in the catheterization lab.

Cardiac surgical patients are cared for from the very start of their visit through the hospitalization and the post-discharge follow-up of our dedicated cardiovascular staff who report directly to the surgical faculty.

Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation

Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) uses advanced technology to provide temporary blood circulation and respiratory support in cases of life-threatening heart or lung failure, while these organs recover from injury, illness or a surgical procedure.

Our ECMO program is composed of surgeons, specially trained ECMO specialists and certified perfusionists who treat patients throughout Central Texas.

The ECMO team can transport patients by ambulance, airplane or helicopter for advanced heart and lung care.

As part of the Baylor Scott & White Cardiovascular Institute, our Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) and Pacing team provides you with expert, personalized care and highly specialized services for your heart rate and rhythm problems (arrhythmias).

Rehabilitación cardiaca

Cardiac rehabilitation is a program designed to help improve your overall health by identifying and reducing the risk factors that lead to cardiovascular disease. As a participant in the cardiac rehab program, you will work with an exercise physiologist or registered nurse who will help you meet your personal goals.

We have a large team of people who specialize in the various aspects of recovery who will work with you, teach you and instruct you on the best practices for your recovery.  Follow up visits in the clinic are as early as 1 week after surgery.
