Leap for Life® cardiac rehabilitation education

Leap for Life is a secondary prevention program that teaches behavior change techniques to achieve better health.
The two-part workshop features education on the following topics:

Day 1:

  • Education on anatomy of the heart, how the cardiovascular system works and the disease process
  • Review of cardiac medications: indications and side effects
  • Review of cardiovascular risk factors

Day 2:

  • Overview of heart-healthy guidelines, reviewing foods found in the grocery store and reading labels to achieve a healthy eating plan
  • Guidelines for developing a regular exercise program
  • Education about stress and stress management techniques

Heart screenings
Baylor Scott & White Heart - Dentonoffers heart screening opportunities to people at risk for heart disease who do not have symptoms.
Coronary Calcium Score Screening
The test uses computed tomography (CT) to check for calcium build-up in the walls of the coronary arteries, which can be an early sign of heart disease. The test takes about 15 minutes and emits low levels of radiation exposure.​ Learn more about Coronary Calcium Score Screening
Living for Zachary Heart Screening
This special screening program is designed to help detect heart abnormalities that may lead to sudden cardiac arrest in youth ages 12-22. This noninvasive screening is reviewed and interpreted by a board-certified cardiologist. Learn more about Living for Zachary Heart Screening
