The Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center is a comprehensive, multipurpose facility dedicated to physical health, fitness and rehabilitation, nutrition and aquatics. Opened in enero 1991, the 320,000-square-foot complex is home to numerous fitness specialists and physicians on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health.

Cancer Survivorship Medical Fitness Program

12-week program designed to help cancer patients improve their quality of life by minimizing fatigue, stress and anxiety

This program focuses on improving muscular strength, mobility, core strength, coordination, joint pain and other distress associated with cancer treatment. We’ll help you strengthen the mind, body and spirit by addressing your physical and emotional needs.

Program description:

  • Two 60-minute supervised group sessions per week
  • Full access to the center and all of its amenities
  • Goal-setting initiatives to promote a healthy lifestyle
  • Group nutrition education
  • Support person is encouraged to join with cancer survivor
  • Eligibility to waive enrollment fee to the Carter Rehabilitation & Fitness Center upon completion of the program

Program cost:

  • $90 for three months, per participant
  • We do not file insurance
  • Program is self-pay and nonrefundable

Cardiac Rehabilitation Center

Affiliated with the Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center focuses on preventive cardiology and the latest therapy and cardiac rehabilitation research. The center is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, nutritionists, social workers and exercise physiologists. It features advanced testing equipment to examine cardiac capabilities and measure stress, a specially designed cardiac telemetry monitoring system that allows patients to perform advanced forms of exercise such as racquetball and swimming, while being EKG-monitored by cardiac technicians.Both cardiac patients and their families receive education and behavior modification techniques.

Congestive Heart Failure Medical Fitness Program

Three month exercise regiment designed specifically for individuals being treated with a heart failure diagnosis and have been approved by their physicians to exercise or have completed any outpatient rehabilitation.

Moms on the Move: Pre and Post Natal Fitness Program

Goals

  • Maintain recommended weight gain
  • Improve overall emotional health
  • Improve and maintain functional mobility and strength.
  • Minimize water retention
  • Relieve back pain
  • Create pelvic floor strength through awareness and muscular education.

Participating in an exercise program helps expectant mothers make the most of the bodies' ability to work, rest, play and recover from pregnancy. 

This program is designed to manage common occurrences associated with pregnancy and assist expectant mothers in preparing for childbirth. 

Classes at the Baylor Tom Landry Health and Wellness Center

  • Baby & Me Yoga- Tuesdays, 10 a.m.
  • H20 Yoga- Tuesdays 5:30 p.m. and Thursdays 5:30 p.m.
  • Prenatal Yoga-  Saturdays, 10:30 a.m.

Classes at the Carter Center

  • Prenatal Yoga- Saturdays, 1:45 p.m.

Non Member Fees:  

  • 12 classes $200

  • $30 Drop in

Classes are FREE to Baylor Tom Landry Health and Wellness Center and Carter Center members.

Note: Unused classes are non refundable and classes expire after 6 months

As with all exercise programs we recommend you consult with a physician before beginning a program. For clients with active symptoms such as pelvic instability or chronic pain, Baylor Rehabilitation Systems at the Tom Landry Center provides women's health physical therapy services.

Motion Performance Center

Part of the Baylor University Medical Center Department of Orthopaedics, the Baylor Motion & Sports Performance Center is one of only a handful of laboratories in the country designed for both clinical investigation and sports performance assessment. The center specializes in the analysis and interpretation of human movement using the advanced technology of high speed digital motion capture cameras. The movement of athletes or patients can be recorded and analyzed to maximize athletic performance or to research various medical conditions. The center is currently involved in clinical research studies and has been named as a high performance testing center for U.S. Track & Field.

Pediatric Weight Management Program

A.H.E.A.D. Achieving Healthy Eating and Activity in Dallas

The A.H.E.A.D. Program is designed to address the issue of childhood obesity through education of the child and the parent on proper nutrition and the importance of regular physical activity. In a positive and encouraging environment, our coaches help children and their parents adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors!

The A.H.E.A.D. Program is an individualized, scientifically– based, 12 week weight management program for youth ages 5-16.

The program includes:

  • (1) 1-hour family nutrition counseling session with a registered dietitian
  • (3) 30 minute follow-up nutrition counseling sessions with a registered dietitian
  • (19) 30 minute exercise sessions with a fitness coach
  • Parent access to the Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center for the 12-week program, so the parent can exercise when the child is with the fitness coach
  • Family nutrition and physical activity tracking booklet, including healthy, kid-friendly recipes; ideas for fun physical activity; and other helpful tips on how to incorporate healthy family behaviors

Physical Therapy Services

The Baylor Rehabilitation System Outpatient Therapy Clinic provides specialized physical therapy for all individuals, including those with sports-related injuries who need to return to a more physically demanding level of recovery and activity. The center is staffed by sports-trained physical therapists and athletic trainers.

Restorative Wellness Program for Cancer Survivors

Designed to help cancer patients improve their quality of life by minimizing fatigue, stress and anxiety in a group setting.
This program focuses on improving muscular strength, mobility, core strength, coordination, joint pain and other distress associated with cancer treatment. We’ll help you strengthen the mind, body and spirit by addressing your physical and emotional needs.

Participants can choose from the following class offerings to attend:

  • Gentle yoga
  • Water yoga
  • Pilates I
  • Neuromuscular integrative action (NIA)
  • Restorative and mindful meditation

Program cost:

  • Attend any of the listed classes for $8 or purchase a 10-pack of classes for $50
  • We do not file insurance
  • Program is self-pay and nonrefundable

SHED Program

Three month exercise program regimen designed especially for pre-surgical bariatric patients who are just beginning their wellness journey, as well as post-surgical bariatric patients who have been approved by their physician to exercise.
