Keeping Your GI Tract on Track
It may be just an upset stomach. But what if it's something more serious? Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney can help you figure out what's causing your gastrointestinal issues and get you back to feeling your best.
Whether you're suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux or celiac disease–or just staying current on your colonoscopy screenings–the experts on our medical staff are here to care for your gastrointestinal system.
We offer a full complement of diagnostic and treatment options for a wide range of GI conditions, including, but not limited to:
- Abdominal bloating
- Abdominal pain
- Barrett's esophagus
- Celiac disease
- Cáncer de colon
- Crohn's disease
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Ulcerative colitis
A GERD specific treatment includes an anti-reflux surgeon permanently implanting a simple ring-shaped device that is a series of magnets around the bottom of the esophagus in a laparoscopic procedure. The ring of magnets is designed to stay closed and prevent the weak reflux valve from opening. This prevents acid from the stomach moving up into the esophagus. The ring of magnets will open when the patient is eating to let food in much like a person’s native reflux valve.
Many digestive diseases can be treated though medication and other forms of therapy. However, some require colorectal surgery by the skilled surgeons on our medical staff – often on a minimally invasive basis.
