At Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie, our Women’s Health Unit boasts an experienced team consisting of perinatal and neonatal nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners, and obstetricians and neonatologists as well as other skilled caregivers—all working together to deliver quality care to mom and baby.
Our goal is to create a safe, cherished experience for every mother and her newborn—before, during and after childbirth. In addition, we realize this is a special time for the entire family, which is why our policy allows family and loved ones to be together throughout the entire birthing process.

You will enjoy the family-focused atmosphere provided in our beautifully decorated, private suites. You can plan on laboring, delivering and recovering all in the same room.
If you have a planned or unplanned cesarean section, the operating suites and recovery are located conveniently within the Women’s Health Unit.
There is plenty of room for your partner or another family member to spend the night.

Our New Beginnings Clinic is available to help mother and her newborn baby thrive after delivery in Waxahachie. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at to any new mother regardless of birthing facility.

Whether you're currently expecting or just welcomed your newest addition, the early days of motherhood come with a lot of questions. We're here with the answers you need.
Clase de lactancia materna (en línea)
Learn about breastfeeding from the comfort of your home. Not every family is able to attend parent education classes in person, while others learn better with a self-study class. This interactive, web-based instruction contains animated illustrations, videos and games to make learning easy and fun.
Cesarean birth (online)
Sometimes a planned cesarean is a necessary surgical birth option for a healthy mom and a healthy baby. Becoming informed and prepared will help you gain understanding and help you make good choices. Learn about what to expect during your hospital stay and how to have a good recovery process when you return home.

This class alternative is for couples who prefer learning in the comfort of their own home and at their own pace or for couples who are on bedrest or who have scheduling conflicts. This interactive program includes videos and illustrations that provides couples with the skills that are essential to an informed childbirth experience.
Tour de maternidad
This interactive tour provides the expectant couple an opportunity to become familiar with Labor and Delivery, as well as the Postpartum and Nursery Units. All questions are welcomed. Pre-registration is required. Tours are available every Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM, 3rd Floor Women’s Services front desk, no appointment needed.

Newborn care/breastfeeding combo class (in-person)
This class is designed to help new parents develop realistic expectations while learning the basics of infant care.
Topics will include soothing techniques, guidelines for safe sleep, diapering, car seat safety, feeding, and bathing.
This course also provides the opportunity to learn the skills that will help you have a positive breastfeeding experience and provide information on growth, development and parenting. Partners are highly encouraged to support by attending.
