| 5.0 | mayo 30, 2025 | Unfortunately, at this visit, I learned that my baby's heart had stopped beating and I was suffering an early miscarriage. This was the first time I've had this experience. Dr. Walters and her staff were amazing through the painful experience. They gave me as much time as I needed to process and Dr. Fernandez also came in to confirm the loss which gave me extra peace of mind. Dr Walters gave me clear information about my options and then gave me plenty of time to call and discuss with my husband who was not present. I know how packed Dr. Walters' office gets yet I never once felt rushed through the experience and I could tell the staff showed true sympathy for my loss. Dr Walters also happened to be on call for the Labor & Delivery unit that day and I'm sure she was juggling a lot, yet both in the clinic and later on for surgery, the experience with her made me feel like I was her only patient and top priority. We opted for surgery later that day and not only did Dr. Walters fully explain and help us through the decision making process of completing genetic testing, but she also performed a last minute third ultrasound for my husband so he could see our baby and to help him have the closure he needed to accept the difficult loss. Lastly and honestly most importantly for us, she cared for our sweet baby's body with dignity and made sure all the steps were followed so that we will be able to give our baby the proper burial he or she deserves. I have several close friends and family members who have experienced similar losses and, unfortunately for them, in most cases, as soon as the confirmation was made the medical team's language shifted to the sterile and callous discussion of "tissue" and "clumps of cells" and "products of conception" jargon. I am SO GRATEFUL this was not our experience. This is a real and profound loss for our family. We had been trying to conceive for nearly a year and were blessed to find out about our baby very early on and see the heartbeat at a 6 week ultrasound. Dr. Walters treated our baby like the human person he or she is right up until the last interaction with us. I cannot convey in words how honoring it is to have our baby treated with such dignity. Thank you Dr. Walters and staff. | |
