Biografía
Neuro-oncology is a very narrow medical field, focusing on treating people with primary brain tumors and the tumors that spread to the brain or spine from elsewhere in the body, often causing neurological problems. Dr. Levačić stays current on the latest scientific breakthroughs in this field, but she also takes time to listen to her patients to better understand them and to prescribe the appropriate treatment to help them regain their quality of life. Conditions Dr. Levacic treats include glioblastoma, astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma, meningioma, schwannoma, ependymomas, medulloblastomas and brain or spine metastases from systemic cancers such as lung, kidney or breast cancer or melanoma. She addresses these conditions through coordination of care to include radiation oncology and neurosurgery, prescribing chemotherapy when indicated, administering intrathecal chemotherapy via Ommaya reservoir, reprogramming of ventriculo-peritoneal shunt settings, surveillance of tumors and/or treatment effects with imaging, neurological exams to detect and follow the effect of tumors on cognition, motor, sensory and other systems, and management of cerebral edema and seizures in brain tumor patients. She is a native of Croatia and has lived in multiple cities along the US East Coast. Dr. Levačić has many interests outside of medicine: traveling, photography, singing, cooking, and carpentry.
