Douglas John Fox, MD

Dr. Douglas Fox is a board certified, fellowship trained neurosurgeon with a special interest in surgically treating complex spinal conditions with minimally invasive techniques and innovative technologies.


Dr. Fox grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After finishing his undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University in 1995, he went on to complete his medical degree at Washington University in 1999. Dr. Fox remained at Washington University for his residency training in neurosurgery and graduated in 2005. Following his residency, he completed two additional years of training with fellowships in cerebrovascular surgery with Robert Spetzler, M.D. and complex spinal surgery with Volker K Sonntag, M.D. at the Barrow Neurological Institute.

Dr. Fox has published widely and maintains an active research interest in the development of new surgical technologies to improve neurosurgical care.

Dr. Fox currently sees patients at our NeuroTexas offices in Southwest Austin, Lakeway and Marble Falls.

Dr. Fox has been recognized as a Top Doc 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 by Austin Monthly Magazine. Winners are nominated by their peers as among the best in their region/nation in their medical specialty.
