4.9 | May 19, 2025 | Dr. Cohen Is definitely a very capable and smart cardiologist, you can tell that within the first few moments you speak with him. He did an excellent job of explaining what was happening with my heart. The problem Is no one Including Dr. Cohen has a done a good job of even asking or trying to understand why. And that Is Incredibly Important to me as a person who has had no heart problems previously. Secondly as a person who does not think that adding another pill Is the answer. I am also Interested In exploring what else we might do, what else we might try to understand that through life changes or other medication changes we might solve this problem without just adding another medication, particularly one that I might have to take for the rest of my life and that presents other potential side effects. If ultimately that Is where we land then so be It No one has asked the questions: When did this start? What was going on with me when this started? What new medications was I taking as a result of that? It's as If everyone has assumed that after 68 years of a heart performing normally that some magic switch was flipped and It decided to act badly. I understand this Is serious and I just want to understand before making long term decisions. Secondly I appreciate Dr. Cohen's honesty and candor. When discussing the ablation, which was one of the four options discussed, he readily admitted that not a lot of ablations were performed here in College Station, but he felt based on my tests that he was pretty sure where the problem was and thought he could do it. I'm not sure how most heart patients feel, but I'm pretty sure that they don't want to hear you "think" you can do it. He pretty much had me until that statement. I don't doubt his diagnosis, but I'd be lying if I did not say my confidence wasn't a little shaken at that point. I know College Station BSW is not a heart center for the system, there was no delusion there, but I need the person who is going to run something into my heart to say I've done this, I've got this, I've got you with confidence. I normally don't spend a lot of time on these surveys, but I liked Dr. Cohen and I think he could make a great heart doctor, especially with his ability to connect with the patient. Hopefully this will be viewed constructively and not as critical, which is not meant to be. I still have confidence in BSW. | |
