What is adrenal cancer?

Adrenal cancer occurs when cells in the adrenal glands begin changing and multiplying out of control. There are several types of adrenal cancers, and the most common are cancer of the adrenal cortex (outer layer of the adrenal gland) and pheochromocytoma (inside layer of the adrenal gland).

Certain tumors respond better to certain cancer treatments. Adrenal gland tumors are commonly treated with surgery. However, a combination of treatment methods may be needed.
