PGY2 Specialty Pharmacy Residency provides advanced training in the health system specialty pharmacy setting to provide pharmacists with the clinical and administrative skills necessary to provide outcomes-driven, high quality patient care while achieving and maintaining pharmacy accreditation standards and advancing the profession

Specialty pharmacy focuses on providing supportive services to patients who are on high-risk prescription medications used to treat complex medical conditions. These medications and conditions often require special handling or have special directions for administration, such as self-injection.

Upon graduation, the resident is prepared for managerial/leadership roles in clinical and operational areas of the specialty pharmacy setting, as well as to obtain board certifications and other specialty-related professional designations.

This PGY2 Residency began in 2021 and is accredited by American Society of Health-System Pharmacists® (ASHP)

About our specialty pharmacies

Baylor Health Enterprises operates 31 outpatient pharmacies within the Baylor Scott & White (BSW) Health System, including the URAC- and ACHC-accredited BSW Specialty Pharmacy.

Our Specialty Care Team consists of registered pharmacists, certified pharmacy technicians, and nurse care managers, who together assist our patients at each step in the process of obtaining their medications and serve as a bridge between the patient, prescriber, and insurance plan.

Services include insurance benefit investigations, prior authorization assistance, patient copay assistance program support, delivery options, and clinical support services to patients across multiple specialties including but not limited dermatology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, neurology, oncology, and endocrinology.

BSW Specialty Pharmacy has URAC accreditation status as an achievement of high-quality services and adherence to the industry’s best practices.
