My case is complex and have multiple conditions that did not make me tolerant of bowel prep (high sodium) and long fasting (hypoglycemia, CKD, heart disease. As a result, my colonoscopy was partial last year and took some time to recover from an episode that affected symptom clusters. This time we discussed my max sodium intake allotted per day, and high protein, low fat, low carb, no sugar, no processed foods, no caffeine, and no alcohol diet. I eat more frequent, smaller meals to keep my sugar levels from getting too low by Insulin overproduction, with balanced protein intake and limiting foods that rapidly breakdown to glucose. Kerping sodium low is both for controlling blood pressure and kidney function. As there is no way to meet these requirements for this procedure, I prefer a doctor that understands my autonomic, neuromuscular, and neuro-immunology treatment plans to advise the best nutritional course to minimize the impact of preparing for this procedure. After research of clear protein infused drinks with 20+ grams of infused protein, and heart medication adjustment, I had to explain the after affects of the prep and precautions to minimize sodium intake and get approval for drinking clear protein infused drinks. NP Dibo, spent more time than other patients becaise she looked up the most thorough bowel prep solutions with the least sodium. This time the sodium will still be an order of magnitude greater, but not grossly over. I can maintain my protein intake and eliminate drinks with sugar, or natural sugars. Colonoscopy/endo procedures are more assembly line, schedule optimized procedures and my case needed consultation the first time, but seemed to come up with the best plan possible. | |
