Dr. Imtiyaz Hussain Hakeem

A career in medicine was a natural choice for Dr. Hakeem, coming from a family with many doctors. He remembers being curious and excited about the stories they used to share about challenging cases. His mother instilled a sense of empathy and care for people in need, and no other profession was as noble as being a physician in the society where Dr. Hakeem grew up.


Dr. Hakeem was drawn to Nephrology because of the challenges it presents, including some of the most complex and toughest medical scenarios. Dr. Hakeem finds great satisfaction in caring for some of the sickest people and being an advocate for getting the best care possible for them.

Outside of work, he enjoys being outdoors tending to a large collections of plants. He also enjoys cooking.

Dr. Hakeem has been recognized as a Top Doc 2026 by Austin Monthly Magazine. Winners are nominated by their peers as among the best in their region/nation in their medical specialty.
