She used common terms so I could understand what I needed to do with my issue. She used the computer to show me where the problem was and how it was determined that at this stage was just a wait & see. Her recommendation to do a yearly follow-up made me feel she had everything under control. Together we derived a plan to follow for the next year. Glad I chose her to assist me with my issue. Thanks! Listening is a skill lost on millions of physicians who simply rush through patients to finish the day. I know when visiting Dr St John, that she has studied my symptoms and wants to improve my quality of life. I have in essence fired some BSW doctors because they don't possess this precious skill. Their arrogance and hubris prevail. From a patient's perspective, the skill of listening is apparent immediately upon being greeted by the doctors staff. As an ordained minister, I teach a class on "Listening As A Ministry of Presence". Listening and Communication for understanding is the difference between seeing patients and having a relationship with them. I trust Dr St John because of the relationship we have.
