Scott Michael Carlson, MD

Dr. Carlson is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. He has a broad range of expertise in the field of endocrinology. Previously at Duke University Medical Center he led the pituitary endocrinology clinic and worked closely with the neurosurgery team in Duke's multidisciplinary pituitary clinic. He was also one of the lead physicians in the adult gender medicine clinic. His other areas of interest and expertise include male and female hypogonadism, early menopausal and menopausal hormone replacement therapy, diabetes, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, adrenal tumors, osteoporosis, and lipid disorders. Dr. Carlson is also interested in health services research and health equity. Additionally he is interested in researching and improving the ways that inpatient endocrinology can contribute to hospital care and facilitate an improved transition to outpatient endocrine care.


As an art history major in college, Dr. Carlson enjoys visiting Dallas' many exceptional art museums in his spare time. He also enjoys listening to and playing music, exploring nature, and spending time with family and friends.
