The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano, is an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited one-year program that provides two fellows 12 months of clinical training in coronary interventional procedures, peripheral interventions and structural heart procedures.
Training will focus on obtaining mastery of the cognitive and technical skills necessary to care for patients. Our faculty members possess a broad range of subspecialty expertise within the field of interventional cardiology. The program strives to create a collegial atmosphere with abundant opportunities for one-on-one interactions between faculty and fellows. At the end of training, the interventional cardiology fellow will have acquired the knowledge base, judgment and technical skills to become an independent operator in interventional cardiology

Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano cardiac catheterization laboratory performs more than 5,000 cardiac procedures and more than 1,800 cardiac interventions annually.
As a fellow you will be involved in the following procedures:
- Mechanical circulatory support
- Angioplastia y colocación de stent para tratar la enfermedad de las arterias coronarias
- Angioplasty and stenting for peripheral artery disease (PAD)
- Complex and High Risk coronary and Interventional Procedures (CHIP)
- Current Percutaneous ventricular assist devices (Impella, etc.)

In addition, fellows have an opportunity to observe the following procedures via the interventional faculty and will be involved in the bedside management of patients.

Cómo aplicar
Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to electronically accept fellowship applications, letters of recommendations, dean’s letters, transcripts and other credentials directly from the applicant's medical school.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all application materials are completed and properly submitted through ERAS. The Fellowship Selection Committee will review all completed applications and select candidates for interviews. Interviews will be arranged by invitation only.

Applicants must have completed at least three years of internal medicine residency and three years of cardiology fellowship training. In order to be considered for the program, applicants must submit the following materials:

- Three letters of recommendation (one must be from your program director)

- USMLE and/or COMLEX scores
At this time, we are only sponsoring a J1 visa for those who require a visa.
