The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Baylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health, offers two certification programs: a six-year certification/MD program and a four-year certification program.
The certificate of training completion and eligibility for taking the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification examination is awarded for both programs.
We accept two residents each year.

Objectives
The residency's objectives are to:
- Offer a clinical and academic background that meets or exceeds the requirements and essentials of an accredited residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Provide a program that prepares residents for successful completion of the certification examination of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- Develop surgical expertise, diagnostic acumen and patient management skills to enable each resident to pursue an academic career, research career and/or practice in this specialty
- Foster an attitude of critical inquiry and intellectual self-renewal throughout each resident's career and stimulate the desire to deliver ethical, compassionate and effective health care services
- Stimulate an intellectual curiosity through the teaching of research methodology and the design and conduct of meaningful research

Cómo aplicar
All applicants must submit their applications through the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) to be considered for interviews. Most applicants are selected through the National Match program. PASS packets are available from the American Dental Education Association.
Deadline for applications is octubre 1.
Interviews
Interviews are by invitation. If invited, all applicants are expected to interview in person to be considered for residency appointment.
Requerimientos de aplicacion
All applicants must be currently enrolled in an American Dental Association (ADA)-accredited United States dental school or hold a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an ADA-accredited United States dental school.
Dentists with degrees from foreign countries are not eligible. Those with Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degrees from accredited medical schools may be considered for the combined DDS/MD certificate program with advanced standing dental school admission.

- Composite score of at least 90 on Part 1 of the National Dental Board Examination
- Ideally be in the top 15 percent of dental school class
- Maintain a high grade point average
- Three letters of recommendation from dental school faculty, with one letter from oral and maxillofacial surgery faculty
- Dean’s letter
